At the time I first wrote this article in 2020, the Atmos SBs had been my last SB dunk pickup. These Nike SB Dunk Low Flax were definitely the next pair I had my mind set on getting, and I did! Nike decided to re-release the sneaker in 2023, and I can see why.
The sneakers follow in a long tradition of wheat SB dunks, and add to my collection of several sneakers in this color scheme.
These include sets of wheat and brown colored SB laces. My 2020 pair came in a purple box. I’m not sure if the 2023 release will drop in a sail box, given how sail is the latest Nike SB box era in 2023
Once I saw these were coming out, I had to get a pair! I grabbed my pair in December 2020. The resale on this particular pair wasn’t that bad at the time, so I figured I’d jump on them while I could.
How Are The Materials?
These have an entirely suede upper. Typically the wheat SB dunks of old have sported a nice suede with a gumsole, reminiscent of the classic wheat Timberlands. These are no exception! While the suede isn’t as lush as it’s forebears, it is still soft with notable backstrokes throughout. A $100-ish Nike GR will not compare with a Made in USA/England New Balance costing twice as much. However, for what these are, this is a nice quality shoe!
How Do They Fit?
The Nike SB Dunk Low Flax fit snug as expected. I went a half size up. Luckily, the suede used around the toebox allows for a faster break in time, so while these did feel a little snug around the pinky toe and a little stiff at first, they got comfy quick. A true size fit might not have bothered me as much as it would with other SB lows, but I stick with a half size up to be on the safe side.
